The ever-changing nature of daylight presents challenges to any artist working outside directly from nature. I do not pay too much attention to detail in these paintings since those details also keep changing. When plein-air painting I like to make sketches in either oil pastel, chalk pastel or oil paint. A few of them will be developed later in the studio and some of these sketches are finished paintings in their own right.
